All that well deserving buzz for Shanghai Tang Autumn / Winter 2010

One luxury brand recently caught my attention enough for me to blog about it. And that itself is a huge deal as everyone knows I have the attention span of a goldfish. Saw a big coverage on it in newspapers and I have to say that I’m undeniably impressed. For one thing, being featured in reputable newspapers like The Star is indeed something to boast about. And of course, I don’t want you to be deprived of such great article so I took the liberty of scanning it for you. Sweet right? Ha. I know I know I’m bordering on obsessed but really, take a look!

I’m talking about Shanghai Tang, known well as the luxurious place to shop for your Chinese infused apparels, accessories and home decor needs. To the untrained eye, one might think that this brand is only perfect if one is looking for an oriental look, particularly for Chinese concept events and the likes. But if you have observed them as much as I, the fashion addict, the brand in actuality offers much oh much more than that.

Contemporary yet classic, fresh and equipped with a fashionable zing, Shanghai Tang is a love affair between eastern and western fashion values. And really, I can’t imagine a more genius concept. I was ever so privileged enough to be one of the first to view their latest “Devastating Beauty” Autumn Winter 2010 collection (FemmeCity2010) and they are divine. The vivid beautiful colors and prints of the collection represent a clash between nature and culture of the rapid pace of modernization.

Looks I absolutely adore of revolutionised Qipao. Me wants!

I love this little abstract number

The print is like an explosion of stars right? Beautiful!

Am going to pay the boutique a visit @ Pavilion and ladies, if you are seeking for fashion fabulous, I suggest you do the same, you will not be disappointed!

FemmeCity 2010

FemmeCity by Clove, The Star is upon us again! Today was the launching of the 3 day event and again, as expected, I was there to witness the big she-bang.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil gave an excellent speech on the achievements and visions of the women of today. Such inspiring and well thought out words which made me proud to be a woman; I would have run to the podium and give her a hug if it wasn’t for the fear of being dragged out of the place by her bodyguards :P

Of course, you can’t have an event specifically for the ladies without a fashion show to hype up the whole atmosphere. True enough, we were all treated to a Coach and Shanghai Tang fashion presentations as the models strutted their stuff on the runway. Call me simple but it was exciting, adrenaline was pumping, people were smiling, we were all having a good time. I was so close I could just reach out a hand and touch them models during the show, or, well.. maybe snatch that adorable looking tote one of them was holding.

The place looks great, and believe that you should go for a visit. They have so many pretty displays and booths for you to ooh and aah at. Of course there are Coach and Shanghai Tang, Zang Toi, Chloe, Che Che, Jimmy Choo and so much more!

Wish I could have stayed longer but I had another tearing engagement. Thank the fashion lord for giving me the chance to at least view the awesome fashion show. No matter, FemmeCity will be going on until 1st August. For sure I’ll be going there again, so much to explore!

See you there!

Miu Miu Talk

Have you seen Miu Miu’s Fall / Winter 2010 ad campaign yet? There’s something about the images and video that calls out to me the second I laid my eyes on them. I was transfixed by their genius concept that incorporated various elements that suit my generation to a T.

I see sheer desire, raw fantasy and of-so-crazy-it’s-my-life-live-yours elements that keep their fans breathless, at the edge of their seats, and wanting more. Being unusually analytical, I get that there is a little piece in all of us that connects with these elements, and I have to applaud their sensibility in engaging their consumers by invoking such feelings that artists like Rihanna and Lady Gaga have successfully used to capture their fans.

But I digress. I’m here not to dissect their marketing prowess. Well not entirely anyway. Being a marketer, such instincts can compulsively spurt out when I least expect them. Anyyyhooo. Am here to also gush and drool and dream over something that caught my eye during my recent trip to Suria KLCC.

*heart!*

Miu Miu Black Lambskin Totebag screams edgy cutesy rock, if that even make sense! Something about the tough and exotic look and feel to it appeals to me. The eyelets, the gold chains and the textured effect of the lambskin leather. *shivers* Although, being a lover of excessively and ridiculously huge bags, I do wish for it to be roomier. Suuure it can hold my most basic needs, but I doubt I would be able to cram in all my other daily must haves like my water bottle, my trusty leather bound notebook, my huge sunnies, my novel of the week and my stash of just-in-case accessories!

Hmmpf. Watch this space, I might fling that one con out the window and make that purchase anyway. Did I mention that aside from being marketing compulsive, I am also very very VERY impulsive.

Such fun being a girl, no?

Til next time!

Coach Pop-Up Store @ KLCC

Nothing makes me happier on an unbearably slowww day at the office than an invitation call. An invitation call for a super fun fashion event. An invitation call for a super fun fashion event by Coach. An invitation call for a super fun fashion event by Coach and they know my name!! After the call, I realized that somewhere out there, my name is in a list with a remark on the side that says ‘plus 1’. I tell you, ‘plus 1’ never sounded so significant.

So enough with the jakunness. Lets talk fashion.

You know what I think? I think Coach is like candy. Luxury candy with a reasonably pricey tag attached. One small nibble and one can’t get enough. I mean have you seen their latest collection?? The cuteness gives me a very much welcomed toothache.

Their New York / Spring collection is in KL! W00t! Like a fun book, they had a pop up store in the middle of KLCC and that definitely created a buzz, with the champagne and the music and fashion show and the glam of snazzy celebrities and the cameras clicking press. Oooh yes I was having a good night.

*ran up the escalator for this shot, fyi

I didn’t know a collection preview could excite as much. I mean, really, I was unintelligibly cooing over almost all the bags they had.

*Look at tote bag, second on the left. How ricidulously special is that?

After the fashion show, I did my fair share of mingling and socializing with some of the other guests. Also made queries with the oh so helpful staff in regards to their latest collection and pricing wise. Would love to get my hands on at least one item, especially that cute tote, as mentioned above. That baby has 'property of Sugar' written all over it.

The event, may I say, was quite a success as they definitely have my interest piqued with all the flashy preview. And they must have done it right as I will definitely visit their KLCC store soon enough.

Can't wait for the next event. =))

And so it begins

*Cuts glitter crazy ribbon with a pair of jewels encrusted giant scissors*

I hereby officially announce the launch of a blog that will bring out that fabulous little fashioniste in all of us.

Allow me with the introduction. I am Ms. Sugar, a normal albeit a tad easily enthused individual who appreciates the sweetness of what fashion can bring. I’ve only just managed to put my foot through the majestic fashion door and by gosh, I am pretty damn determined to kick it wide open.

So this blog will serve as a personal project that will document my future experience being in the industry. The timing can’t be any more perfect than this. I’m new, I’m fresh, I have always had this unquenchable thirst for all that is pretty, and after eons of silently observing from afar, finally, I have arrived.

*Throws confetti. Yay!*
